The ability to calculate percentages accurately is a really valuable skill. It means you can quickly work out exactly how much you will you save if get a 20% discount on a new computer, or know exactly how much difference your 5.5% pay rise will make to your wage packet!
Using Percentages helps you to get to grips with fractions, ratios and percentages. A short and simple quiz at the beginning of the course helps you to select the right level of learning for you. You then go on to take a look at the interactive online magazine, “100% Learning” which is packed with articles including Money Matters, Off Your Trolley, Healthy Living and Gadget Corner. Each of these articles will show you how you can use percentages to help you when you are shopping, going on holiday or even visiting your doctor. They include a “See How It's Done” section that shows you how the percentage has been worked out.
Once you are confident, you can do a “Try It Out” quiz to check that you have understood the maths, this section even includes tips to help you work out a percentage by yourself. When you feel ready, you can even try a “Test Question”. In the Activity section there are some suggested activities to help you to improve your skills and build your confidence when deals with percentages.
