Learners are also invited to print examples and case studies of small businesses that have used business planning techniques and compare them with their own circumstances. Additionally, they can carry out off-line assignments to transfer the principles to their own businesses. Learners can communicate with other students through the learndirect message centre, they can also e-mail their tutor for advice. There are informal assessments at the end of each module so that learners can check their progress; these are often in the form of a game. The results of these assessments are recorded and the learner is advised which topics should be revisited..
